Situated further inland in Falkenberg lies Sweden’s most popular destination. 4.8 million people visit it every year, and with good reason. A visit to Ullared is more than a shopping trip; it’s an experience!
About the department store
Gekås Ullared is a true shopper’s paradise where you can buy everything and anything for the home: clothes, electronics, toys, cosmetics, groceries, lighting, home textiles, tools and much, much more - and at fantastic prices, too. It covers 35,000 square metres in total, making it the biggest department store in all of Scandinavia.
Aside from shopping for great products, you can also have a dinner at the restaurant or have a bite at one of the cafés. You can also get a haircut, or even head over to the photo studio to take a family portrait. The department store also has a playground where children are free to romp around to their heart’s content. There’s even a dog daycare for shoppers who want to bring their furry friends.
If you’ve got a lot of unused clothes in your wardrobe, you could also take this opportunity to clear out some space by bringing it with you to Gekås Ullared and donating it to Textilreturen, which is operated by the aid organisation Human Bridge. Textilreturen is located about 1.5 km from the department store. There are also other businesses and restaurants in the local area.
Stay the night
To get the most out of your visit to Ullared, you should consider staying the night. After all, it’s only sensible to take a second look at your purchases in the evening, try them on and sleep on it. There are many different accommodation options for you to choose from. If you want to stay very close to the department store, Gekåsbyn has hotel rooms, cabins, campsites and RV sites you can book.
We recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance of your trip, as Gekåsbyn has the highest occupancy rate in Sweden when it comes to cabins. However, there are plenty of other accommodation options in the area around Ullared, such as bed & breakfasts and hostels.
Hang out and relax
After a hectic day of shopping, unwinding in a wood-fired hot tub or sauna may be just the thing you need. The campground also has barbecue areas, playgrounds and an adventure golf course.
During the summer months, you can also take a dip in Lake Musa, which is only a stone’s throw from the department store. There is a nearby sandy beach with a bathing jetty, swimming raft and slide. In the winter, you can hit the ski slopes instead.
Stay awhile and discover more of Ullared and Falkenberg After all, Ullared has more to offer than its massive department store; there is a wealth of things do to and places to visit here.
