About the Ätran river

The Ätran river and its tributary Högvadsån have a genuine salmon stock that highly protected. It is essentially completely free of agricultural runoffs. Thanks to an extensive fish and water conservation effort, local authorities have succeeded in keeping salmon stocks self-replenishing. When you include its headwaters, the Ätran river is approximately 243 kilometres long. The Ätran runs from a bog in Gullered 332 metres above sea level through southeastern Västergötland and flows out into the Kattegat strait at Falkenberg.
