About Falkenberg

Falkenberg is a municipality on the Swedish West coast, situated between Gothenburg and Malmoe. The municipality has more than 40 500 inhabitants. The only town is Falkenberg, in the middle of the coastline. In land are several villages, among them Ullared is the biggest. The nature of the area differs, from the open fields and sandy beaches near the sea and to the forests and low mountains of the inland. The river Ätran runs from northeast through the whole municipality towards central Falkenberg where it meets the sea.

Falkenberg is much of a tourist area where a lot of people go, especially in the summer, to swim, camp, shop and enjoy themselves. The local business is diversified with a lot of small enterprises, but also some big ones. For instance Carlsberg brewery, Arla dairy, supermarket GeKås in Ullared, SCA Hygienic and the central warehouse for Netto, a chain of food stores.

Communications are good, thanks to the motor highway E6 and the railroad “Västkustbanan" that ran outside town. Airports in Halmstad and Gothenburg are easily reached.
The municipalityofFalkenberg is very advanced in the field of environment preservation. One example is the many windmills that produce electricity all around the area. The population is growing and new housing is being built, for instance by FABO, the housing company owned by the municipality. Telephone number 0346-886600.
